Roman Brooch


Copper-alloy, 8.56 grams, 27.8 mm external diameter. Circa 2nd century AD. A flat disc brooch comprising a central stud with projecting hub; on the disc, an inner field of white enamel with six inlaid studs and an outer of green enamel with radiating blue spokes; the edge serrated and provided with an attachment loop for a securing chain; pin-lugs and catchplate in place on the reverse.
